Child rights manifesto – engaging in the European elections

Date: 10th March 2014
Category: General measures of implementation

Eurochild sees the European Parliament elections (to be held late May 2014) as an opportunity to gather increased political commitment to promote children's rights and well-being from the political spectrum, at national and European level.

The engagement of Eurochild in this important political milestone is based on the Child Rights Manifesto, which has been developed together with 13 European and international child rights networks.

The Manifesto calls on candidates of the European Parliament to become "Child Rights Champions", and as Members of the European Parliament (MEP), take concrete steps to champion children's rights in the European Parliament. The Manifesto recalls the Eurochild vision for realising the rights of every child, everywhere; and gives recommendations on what MEPs can do for children in Europe and the world.
