Young Scot Agents of Change: project report

Date: 20th January 2014
Category: General measures of implementation

Young Scot has published a project report on Agents of Change, a co-design project aimed to empower disabled young people across Scotland to explore ways in which they could influence and participate in local service delivery.

Young Scot Agents of Change was supported by the Scottish Government and delivered in partnership with local authorities and voluntary sector providers. The Young Scot project report provides case studies, recommendations and good practice examples for other organisations who wish to work with disabled young people in decision-making processes of service design and delivery across Scotland.

Key recommendations produced by young people included:

  • Advocacy: Create fairer opportunities across Scotland by improving access to advocacy support for disabled young people;
  • Transport: Increase accessibility on public transport for disabled people across Scotland;
  • Bullying: Create an environment so that anyone who is being bullied can be more open about what's happening - no-one should have to suffer alone;
  • Access: Access, support and funding activities - including social activities that the young people organise/can take part in.
