xGlasgow City Council signs partnership with UNICEF

On 20th November Glasgow City Council signed a partnership with UNICEF UK to become a Child Rights Partner along with 5 other local authorities across the UK.
The programme which will run for 3 years aims to put children's human rights at the heart of public services, and build evidence of how using a child rights based approach to service planning and provision can improve outcomes for children.
The participating local authorities are Derry, Glasgow, Leeds, Neath and Port Talbot, Newcastle and Tower Hamlets.
As part of the programme UNICEF will deliver training in child rights to senior leaders and project teams and co-ordinate a baseline study of child wellbeing and knowledge/awareness of rights to help build a picture of the current state of child rights in Glasgow.
Glasgow aims to improve outcomes and prospects for all children in the city, but especially children who are vulnerable. For this reason, Glasgow is focusing on developing its rights based approach within leaving care services and early intervention with the 0-8 age group in family learning centres.
