Human Rights Day 2013 is fast approaching and this year it focuses on the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Office. A special website and interactive timeline has been launched.
The 20th anniversary will be held on 10th December 2013, it is both a unique opportunity and forward-looking occasion to take stock of the state of the global human rights movement; to highlight both the achievements and the remaining challenges.
- Special site: As part of the 20th anniversary activities and to help plan for Human Rights Day a special site on the 20th anniversary has just been launched. The site features all the elements of the current OHCHR 20th Anniversary page in a new and attractive web format.
Access the special site here.
- Interactive timeline: The special site features an interactive timeline that highlights some of the key human rights events in the past 20 years, from the adoption of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action in June 1993 at the World Conference on Human Rights through Human Rights Day in December 2013.
It outlines major milestones in a number of critical human rights areas over the past two decades. Each key event is illustrated by audio visual material, feature stories or media content related to that specific issue.

These are also available on the special site (accessible via the link above).
For your Human Rights Day activities you may also choose to include one or more of the human rights achievements of the past two decades.
More information on each of these can be found here.
