Join the Human Rights Tour 2013!

Date: 14th June 2013
Category: UK 1st periodic review

Join the Human Rights Tour in Scotland as part of the British Institute for Human Rights (BIHR) events being held in 2013, to find out why you need human rights and why human rights need you.

BIHR have a great team of local partners from across the voluntary and public sector who are co-hosting each event. This means that each event in Scotland will relate specifically to your local area. The day runs from 10am-4pm and is a mix of presentations, discussions and interactive sessions.

Broadly, the day will be split into 4 sessions which will cover an introduction to human rights and human rights law, applying human rights, human rights in the news and beneath the headlines and protecting human rights.

Why you need human rights: because they are your rights! Importantly, human rights can also support people in the voluntary and public sectors to do things better. Our Tour events are about raising awareness and learning more about applying human rights in everyday life.

Why human rights need you: human rights go to the heart of the kind of society we want to be. There is lots of talk about human rights at the moment, including getting rid of our human rights law. You can find out more about what these plans really mean and what you can do.

Events in Scotland will be taking place in Glasgow (1st October) and Shetland (3rd October).

There will be a specific human rights tour event for young people on 5th October, in partnership with Article 12.
