Youth Work sector urged to respond to Community Learning and Development Statutory Instrument Consultation

Date: 16th April 2013
Category: Respect for the views of the child

Following some informal discussions with Civil Servants, it has become clear that as yet there has been a poor response from our sector to the Requirements for Community Learning and Development (Scotland) Regulations 2013 consultation.

This instrument, while of a very general nature, does put community learning and development, of which youth work is a major part, in a better place to demand attention within planning partnerships.

Please take the time to respond and ensure that the voices of young people are heard. YouthLink Scotland will be making comments mainly around the wooliness and openness to interpretation. They also feel it should itemise the types of work undertaken by community learning and development so there is no dubiety as to their place within it.

This may not happen but one can have a greater influence on the content and specifics of the guidance document that goes to councils and planning partnerships with the statutory instrument.

The consultation closes on Friday 26th April 2013.
