No relief for third sector in UK? Budget

Date: 26th March 2012

Groups were left reeling this week by a Budget that failed to deliver little respite for the third sector.

In what sceptics dubbed a "millionaires Budget" with tax cuts for the wealthiest individuals and corporations, George Osborne's statement delivered few concessions for the sector, despite hopes that the chancellor would announce a boost for low income families, changes to Gift Aid and an increase in environmental schemes.

Welfare groups, environmental campaigners and fundraising bodies rounded on the Chancellor for failing to deliver concessions in all the key areas.
