Violence against Women Fund and Children's Services Fund

Date: 13th January 2012
Category:

The VAW Fund will assist in the development of measures to tackle all forms of violence against women. These may be projects which deliver frontline services, or build capacity in local partnerships to strengthen responses to violence against women.

As in previous years, funding for Children Services will be used to resource staff to deliver direct support to children and young people experiencing domestic abuse in refuge, following on from children leaving refuge and in outreach settings.

Both funding steams are intended to improve current circumstances, not replace or compete with, existing alternative funding arrangements. For that reason funding will only be available in exceptional circumstances for projects which are currently in receipt of financial support from other sources.

The Violence against Women and Children's Services funding streams will provide funding for one, two or three years from 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2015. In tackling violence against women the Scottish Government works to a gender based analysis of such violence. This is not intended to minimise the experiences of those affected by any other forms of violence including those where men may experience violence or abuse. However the focus of this funding is the experiences of women and children only.
