State of Children’s Rights Seminars 2012

These free seminars are targeted at all professions working for or with children in the voluntary sector and in local and national governmental/ statutory bodies.

14 May 2012: Dundee (The Shore, 15 Shore Terrace, DD1 3DN)
15 May 2012: Dumfries (Mount St Michael, Craigs Road, DG1 4UT)
17 May 2012: Glasgow (Scottish Youth Theatre, 105 Brunswick St, G1 1TF)

 

The seminars will draw on the findings of Together's State of Children's Rights Report (2011), and will explore how progress can be made towards achieving the recommendations. They will also look at the Scottish Government's progress in delivering the actions identified in its UNCRC action plan Do the Right Thing (2008).

Sessions will include looking at national developments concerning children's rights, such as the Scottish Government's recent consultation on the Rights of Children and Young People bill and forthcoming Children's Services bill. They will take into account the context of the current financial climate in which many children's organisations are faced with cutting or making significant changes to the services they provide.
