Scottish Borders Council

The Education and Lifelong Learning Department aims to improve the lives of the people of the Borders, from pre-school children to mature citizens. The Council aims to do this by providing opportunities for individual learning, personal development and leisure. A major part of the Department's work focuses on children.

The Educational Psychology Service helps children and young people of all ages who have additional support needs. The service advises children, parents and staff in schools on child development, additional needs and education in general and provides support when difficulties arise. Help may involve any or all of the following:

  • Advice to parents and teachers
  • Working with other professionals
  • Psychological assessment
  • Individual work with children
  • Advice to the authority on children's needs
  • Visit the website for more information.
